There was a time when Cartoon Network was the best station ever. And not only because I was a child, it’s because they’ve aired old good shows, like The Jetsons, Birdman, Space Ghost, Dexter. I remember that ithey had a show called Power Zone, with all kind of superheroes in it, every afternoon. I watch it, every single day. Dino-Mutt, Captain Cave Man, Scooby-Doo (although I never relly like Scooby).
Now, all we have is Dexter and Power Puff Girls. The rest is some crappy little things, with little boys and girls talking about their problems in schools, in their back yard. ‘Cramp Twins’ and others like them. Stupid shows. No more superheroes, no more far and distant wordls, no more spaceaction. Just their backyard and stupid kid phranks. I do not want to be a child in this times. I grew up with Superman, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (on Sky One, what a great station back in the ’90), Batman (on Italia 1), X-Men, Turboteen (RTL, another source of great Marvel Shows), Star Trek (Sky One and Sat1).
Now, the kids from these days only have Cramp Twins and that kind of stuff. No more Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry (only on New Years’ Special), no more super action heroes. I never really liked Johny Quest either, but no I miss it. And the most anoying thing is that here in Romania they started to translate the voices from CN’s shows into Romanian, which sucks! Cartoon Network was my first English teacher.
A superbe TV station that became rubbish… Such a pitty…

linux meeting

Today I should be in Arad. A Linux conference take place for a few days, focused on e-learnig and education. Unfortunatley, due to my slow decision making, I will go only tomorrow, when will be the last day, although mr. Predescu announce me from yesterday.
By the way, today we’ve realized that someone just hacked our website. I was amazed that someone could do such a thing to US. I mean, why?… Anyway, it was only the forum, and it can easily be restored (at least so I hope), but again, why would someone do such a thing? That was an educational site, fro crying outloud… Anyway…
Today I’ve just finished reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Simply, an amazing book.

After a very dynamic two weeks of NanoMA, I am back in Ineu, for some
relaxing two weeks. Here, I am absolutely dependent of Total Club
Manager 2005 game: after starting with CFR Cluj, I now promoted with
Cambridge United in my first year. I’ve abandoned CFR mainly because
when I get into the European Cups, half of my team were unable to
play, since there was so many foreigners. Such a crap… Anyway, with
Cambridge now, I have some financial dificulties, but, whatever, I’ve
just promoted in my first year, so the board will forgive me.
Yesterday I’ve start reading “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, a
book that I heard of for 5-6 years, by quotes from different other
books. Plus, at Nanoma, a lot of people have read it, so I am between
the last physicists who likes SF but doesn’t read Adams Douglas’ book.
Since now, seems as great as I expected to be. And it was only
yesterday when I realised that Towlie, from South Park, came also from
this book. (“Don’t forget to bring a towel”, it says).

master exam

Well, it was not quite an exam, it was actually an interview, but I did pretty well since I got the secind highest mark (9.83 of a maximum of 10), but the mark from my license was to small and so I’ve ended on the 6th place, with a total mark of 8.90. It is not bad, since I don’t have to pay for the studies, there were 10 placed sponsored by the state, but only 10 contestres, so everybody is happy.
Tomorrow I’ll go home, after two weeks of summer school, parties and a master interview. I’ll relax a short period, and then… the hard time will begin: school and work.

…must come to an end, like Q said in the last Stra Trek TNG episode. The Nanoma Summer School has ended, sadly. We all have only the good time during the last two weeks. We had the opportunity to meet well trained proffesors from Chemnitz, and having a lot of fun during excursions and officials dinner. I especially want to thank prof. Romulus Tetean and D.T. Zahn for organizing a perfect summer school, and I thing that all participants agreed.
The “Babes-Bolyai” University awarded proffesor Zahn the “Doctor Honoris Causa” title. This was friday. After that, a big party, the last one, took place at Napoca Hotel, until midnight.
What was left of all of this? A CD with all the talks, new friends and some contacts in physics world. We all hope that next year, Nanoma 2005 to be at least as nice as this year’s one. A lot of picture had been taken, and some of them will be posted online, here too, but a link will be here to the hole public collection.
For me, there are a few days spent in Cluj for the master admission interview. I am so bored during this void, being used with Nanoma activities…
Also in Friday (what a day!), I’ve accidentaly met the hole IRIS band in Napoca Hotell, arround midnight. I get an autograph from Cristi Minculescu, and I want to thank him for that (he was waiting for the elevator, looking bored and tired).
They’ve all gone now, I am waiting for my interview, then I will go home to, for afew days or weeks.
